With its own specially developed Environmental Management System, HA-BE has assumed the challenge of ecological responsibility. Since 2002, HA-BE has been certified pursuant to ISO 14001:2015. Not only does it achieve, but it regularly exceeds the values specified therein. In addition, it constantly measures the carbon footprint of the company.
An integral part of the HA-BE Environmental Management System is the Energy Efficiency Program (EEP) . It defines comprehensive steps to be taken to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and it aims at emission-free production in the medium term.

Important milestones are the changeover of the entire heat technology to wood pellets, which allow CO2-neutral heating in virtually all company areas; in addition, the installation of a photovoltaic facility provides around 25% of the energy needs. A change in the energy mix and the purchase of electricity from renewable energy sources are further important measures.
